It’s day one of the Sketchbook Magic 2024 challenge, that my dear friend Melissa @melly_williams_studio is co-hosting. Today’s prompt was Playful Pets: Canine, Sports, Preppy.
I hardly never draw animals, not even dogs even though I have one. So it was about time to dedicate an illustration to her, my sweet Labrador Momo.
My original plan was to sketch in Procreate and test the colours there and then paint in my actual sketchbook, buuut…oops! I ran out of time and decided to just finish the illustration digitally in Procreate and add it digitally to my sketchbook. Ha hah!

I’m finally starting to get the best of covid and having enough energy to paint a whole painting in one day. 🤩 This was an interesting experiment that started as a sketch in Procreate, where I planned the composition and the colours. I used an unusual colour palette for me, but that’s what I’ve been doing lately. A lot of colour palette sampling and getting comfortable with colours that I don’t usually use. I also ended up mixing quite a few colours for this one, which I enjoyed tremendously. I had forgotten how much fun colour mixing is. I think that the reason I do so little of it, with my Holbeins, is that I’m so worried of wasting paint and also because Holbein has so many beautiful colours straight out of the tube. Anyhow, thanks for watching and reading. 😘✨

Oh what fun! 🤩 I watched @oddorange.stationery ’s Vintage Stamp Drawing Session and drew these cuties. The idea was to do them in really short amount of time (4-6mins), but I cheated. 🤭 I paused the recording and took a bit more time. 😁 I really enjoyed drawing these, though. So, thank you, Morgan.
